HUMANITARIAN SERVICE:

~ Yonder Alonso came to the United States from Cuba when he was 10. He attended the local Boys and Girls Club in Miami Dade County regularly growing up.

~ He promised his mother that if he made it to the big leagues, he would give back to the organization that changed his life by inspiring kids to pursue their dreams.

~ Last year, Yonder hosted a “Celebrity Golf Classic” for Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego that included 71 golfers and 19 celebrities. The event raised more than $20,000.

~ During last off-season, he hosted a baseball camp for 50 kids at Petco Park.

~ He also supports the Padres Foundation in the areas of children’s health, education, youth baseball and softball, military and first responders.

BASEBALL CAREER:

Yonder Alonso was named an MLB.com Organization All-Star in 2011. In 2012, he was ranked in the top 25 in OBP (on base percentage) and walks in the National League, as well as eighth in doubles with 39.
