JAMIE MOYER

COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Jamie Moyer and his wife Karen established The Moyer Foundation in 2000 to improve the quality of life for children in the Seattle area. Inspired by Erin Metcalf, a young teen Jamie met through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Jamie created Camp Erin, the first bereavement camp for children in the Seattle area. There are now camps in eight cities for children aged 6 to 17 who have lost a parent. Since joining the Phillies, Jamie has been raising money to expand the Camp Erin program to Philadelphia. The Moyer Foundation's goal is to open a Camp Erin in every Major League city. The Moyers will host a charity event on August 6 at Citizens Bank Park to raise money for the camp. During the 2007 season, Jamie meets regularly on the field prior to games with children who have lost a loved one. In 2004, Jamie teamed with the Hutchinson Center to create the Gregory Fund, a new initiative for early cancer detection research. His Foundation raised nearly $250,000 for the fund through a 12-hour radiothon and two Celebrity Waiters dinners. This season, Jamie participated in two food drives to collect donations for Philabundance, a food bank in Philadelphia. He greeted fans who donated food at the May 17 and June 4 Phillies games. In 2004, Jamie won the Lou Gerhig Award, Family Exemplar Award and Branch Rickey Award.

BASEBALL CAREER:
Last season, Jamie Moyer reached 30 starts and 200 innings pitched for the eighth straight season. He was a member of the 1999 All-Star team.
The Branch Rickey Award is presented annually by the Rotary Club of Denver.
Proceeds from the event benefit Denver Kids, Inc., a preventative counseling
and mentoring program for at-risk students in Denver Public Schools.
