COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Following three years in Kansas City, Raul Ibañez returned to the Mariners in 2004. He immediately jumped back into supporting the community by joining teammate Jamie Moyer and the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, serving as spokesperson for the "Refuse to Abuse" campaign. Since 2004, Raul has chaired the Cystic Fibrosis Mariners Care Golf Tournament. Over the past three years, the event has raised more than $600,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He is also a huge supporter of Esperanza, a non-profit that provides health care and educational opportunities for poor families in Latin America. He helped Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center celebrate their 100th birthday by participating in TV and print PSAs. With his wife Tery, Raul has been active with "Page Ahead Children's Literacy" program, an organization that puts new books in the hands of at-risk kids. For the Boys and Girls Clubs, he has filmed PSAs to recruit volunteers and mentors. Over the years, Raul has also supported a number of other local charities including, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Volunteers of America, Teammates for Kids Foundation, Olive Crest, Treehouse and Canine Companions for Independence. He was a 2006 nominee for the MLB Players Association's "Heart & Hustle" Award.

BASEBALL CAREER:
Raul Ibañez reached career high last season in hits (181), home runs (33), RBIs (123) and at-bats (626). He was named AL Player of the Week twice.
The Branch Rickey Award is presented annually by the Rotary Club of Denver.
Proceeds from the event benefit Denver Kids, Inc., a preventative counseling
and mentoring program for at-risk students in Denver Public Schools.
