CLINT HURDLE

AGE: 47
POSITION: Manager
BIRTHPLACE: Big Rapids, MI
RESIDES: Highlands Ranch, CO
HIGH SCHOOL: Merritt Island, FL
PERSONAL: Wife Karla, 1 son & 2 daughters
COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Clint Hurdle is a man of integrity and someone everyone can admire. He is actively involved with raising awareness of Prader-Willi Syndrome, a complex genetic disorder that affects one in 12,000 people. His daughter Madison suffers from the disease. Clint and his wife Karla participate in an annual bowl-a-thon fund raiser for the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association. This year’s event raised more than $13,000. Clint often speaks about the syndrome on local television broadcasts, bringing more attention to an otherwise unknown birth defect. His Clint Hurdle/Colorado Rockies Charity Fund Golf Tournament is one of the largest fund raisers for the organization. He chose The Children’s Hospital in Denver as his charity long ago. A frequent visitor to the hospital, he also donates Rockies tickets and participates in the Doc Wayne Charity Golf Tournament. He is the first person to visit with ill children at Coors Field who are part of the Care & Share program. Clint often talks about how honored he is to visit children and how thankful he is to have The Children’s Hospital for his child. He motivates his players to get involved in the community. His players look up to him, appreciating his “let’s have fun” approach to baseball and life.

BASEBALL CAREER:
In 2002, Clint Hurdle was named the fourth manager in Colorado Rockies history. He was selected as one of the coaches for the 2004 All-Star Game. The 2005 season marks his 12th with the Rockies. He spent five seasons as the Rockies hitting instructor, compiling the NL’s top two averages in 70 years.
The Branch Rickey Award is presented annually by the Rotary Club of Denver.
Proceeds from the event benefit Denver Kids, Inc., a preventative counseling
and mentoring program for at-risk students in Denver Public Schools.
