During
the 2004 season, Chan Ho Park donated $100,000 to the
Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. He co-sponsored a Habitat
for Humanity House with $25,000 of this donation. The
owner of the house is a single parent and a first time
homeowner. Through his generosity, this family was able
to realize “The American Dream” of home ownership.
The remaining $75,000 will be used to build a youth ballpark
in the Arlington area. Chan Ho is also well respected
in his homeland of South Korea for his commitment to youth
education and sports. During his career with the Los Angeles
Dodgers, he was involved with the Southern California
Korean Parent Association for the Developmentally Disabled.
Although
Chan Ho Park missed over three months of the 2004 season
with a back injury, he made 16 starts during the year,
third hightest on the club. During his career, he has
pitched almost 1,500 Major League innings, winning 97
games. His career ERA stands at 4.20. Chan Ho Park was
a member of the National League All-Star Team in 2001.
