COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Brad Wilkerson has been involved in charitable work for most of his Major League career. While with the Montreal Expos, he hosted “Wilkerson Sundays” where he provided 30 tickets and food vouchers for all Sunday home games for children. He hosts his own charity golf tournament and auction which benefits the Owensboro, Kentucky Family YMCA, Owensboro Girls Club, local Boys & Girls Club and First Tee, a non-profit organization that promotes golf to young children. Brad sponsors a little league team, provides gifts for families during the Holiday season and donates money to numerous children’s charities. In collaboration with the Baseball Tomorrow Fund, Brad granted close to $100,000 in June 2004 to the Cliff Hagen Boys and Girls Club in Owensboro to build a baseball field. During the off-season, he spends time meeting with and mentoring kids in his hometown. Brad also contributes as a member of the Nationals with visits to Children’s National Medical Center.

BASEBALL CAREER:
In 2004, Brad Wilkerson was named the Expos Player of the Year by the Montreal chapter of the BBWAA. In his third full season, he established career highs in hits (146), runs (112), doubles (39), home runs (32), walks (106), and slugging (.468). He became the first Expo to hit 30 home runs, score 100 runs and walk 100 times in a single season. Completing high school in 1995, he was named Kentucky’s Mr. Baseball, where he also excelled in soccer, basketball and as a place-kicker in football.
The Branch Rickey Award is presented annually by the Rotary Club of Denver.
Proceeds from the event benefit Denver Kids, Inc., a preventative counseling
and mentoring program for at-risk students in Denver Public Schools.
