COMMUNITY SERVICE:
An active member of Arizona’s community, Luis Gonzalez is known for making substantial contributions of money and volunteerism. A few of his favorite organizations are: Kids Going Gonzo for School, Arizona Quest for Kids, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Phoenix Family Museum, Boys and Girls Clubs, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Sunshine Acres, Phoenix Fire Department, Brain Injury Foundation, and more. Since arriving in Arizona, he has established a franchise record for player appearances, averaging 40 per year. Some of his appearances have been: Teach for America Week, Prostate Cancer Foundation, Governor’s Office for Children, Arizona Department of Housing, Little League, along with numerous schools, after school programs and youth clubs. He currently serves on the President’s Council of Service and Civic Participation and the Arizona Governor’s Council on Health, Physical Fitness and Sports. In 2002, he was selected to be the Grand Marshall of the Fiesta Bowl Parade. In 2004, Luis contributed and generated $396,000 for local philanthropic organizations. Since becoming a Diamondback in 1999, he has generated more than $1,000,000 for Arizona’s charitable groups and volunteered more than 1,000 hours.

BASEBALL CAREER:
In 2,035 Major League games, Luis Gonzalez has 2,094 hits and almost 300 home runs. He is a Hall of Fame member of both his high school and college.
The Branch Rickey Award is presented annually by the Rotary Club of Denver.
Proceeds from the event benefit Denver Kids, Inc., a preventative counseling
and mentoring program for at-risk students in Denver Public Schools.
