COMMUNITY SERVICE:
During the past off-season, Darin Erstad and his wife Jessica donated $1,000,000 to the University of Nebraska’s Memorial Stadium Improvement Project. Darin is actively involved with numerous children’s groups in California. He serves as spokesperson for Big Brothers of Orange County. For the past seven seasons, he has conducted youth clinics at Riverside Community College. He is a frequent speaker at Cal Poly Pomona Baseball Camps. Darin donated funds to refurbish Little League fields in East Whittier, Long Beach and Garden Grove. In the off-season, Darin joins other Angels to help less fortunate families in the area by distributing 500 holiday meals at the Orange County Rescue Mission. He also donates clothes and other items to help brighten the holiday season for families in need. Darin and his wife Jessica participated with the Boys and Girls Club of Fullerton in their annual “Chefsgiving,” where the couple served Thanksgiving meals to children and their families. He participates in the Tim Salmon Golf Classic which benefits Family Solutions and Laurel House. Darin is also active with the Angels’ Wives, making visits to UCI Medical Center.

BASEBALL CAREER:
Moving from the outfield to first base for the 2004 season, Darin Erstad posted a .996 fielding percentage, claiming his third career Gold Glove. He is the first player in Major League history to be honored with Gold Cloves as both an infielder and outfielder. He was a member of Nebraska’s 1994 National Championship football team and an academic All-Big Eight.
The Branch Rickey Award is presented annually by the Rotary Club of Denver.
Proceeds from the event benefit Denver Kids, Inc., a preventative counseling
and mentoring program for at-risk students in Denver Public Schools.
