COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Corey Koskie donates his time, money and resources to a variety of Upper Midwest non-profit organizations, including Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners, the United States Military, Athletes in Action, People Serving People homeless shelter, Special Olympics and Gillette Children’s Hospital. On below zero nights in December for the past two years, Corey joined a Minneapolis shoe repairman to sleep in a tent to raise money and awareness for homeless and low-income families. He encouraged fellow teammates to join him in the sleepout and contributed $1,000 for each person who joined the cause. The effort raised $850,000 in 2002 and $1,070,000 in 2003. Last year, Corey purchased 2,000 Twins tickets for U.S. military men, women and families. He is continuing the program in 2004. He also hosted a group of Special Olympians and met with them during batting practice. He hosts the Athletes in Action Golf Tournament each year, which raises $50,000. He personally recruits his teammates to participate. Establishing a holiday party for families living in the People Serving People homeless shelter, he bought gifts for the 150 children living there. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Twins Community Fund. In 2001, Corey was honored with the Carl R. Pohlad Award.

BASEBALL CAREER:
Corey Koskie was the co-winner of the 2001 Tip O’Neill Award as Canadian Player of the Year. He also won the Manitoba Male Athlete of the Year. In school, he excelled in baseball, hockey and volleyball.
The Branch Rickey Award is presented annually by the Rotary Club of Denver.
Proceeds from the event benefit Denver Kids, Inc., a preventative counseling
and mentoring program for at-risk students in Denver Public Schools.
