COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Bobby created the Bobby Higginson Foundation to assist children in need in the Detroit area. Since 1998, he has contributed $500 for each home run and $250 for each RBI to his Foundation. Annual recipients include Variety The Children’s Charity, Orchards Children’s Services, the McCarty Foundation and Ronald McDonald House. He began the performance-based program in 1997. Bobby hosted the 2002 Ronald McDonald House fundraiser at Comerica Park. In 1999, he received the ALS Iron Man Award as the Tiger who best exemplifies the skill, perseverance and character of Lou Gehrig. A former member of the Frankford Boy Club, he now provides scholarships to current and past members of the Club. Bobby participates in the “Carpenter’s Christmas for Kids” program at Spain Dual School in Detroit, where he also delivers positive messages. A supporter of the “Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities” baseball league, he has participated in their Opening Day celebration. He sponsored and hosted a Make-A-Wish child during spring training. He arranged an event at a Detroit-area restaurant to benefit the Tiger Clubhouse Scholarship Fund. For the Jimmy V Foundation, Bobby participated in the “Wake-Up Call” program, recording messages that brighten the days of sick and disabled persons.

BASEBALL CAREER:
Bobby Higginson is the Tigers’ longest-tenured player. In his career, he has 1,264 hits in 1,265 games. He ranks seventh in Tiger history for games played. At Temple, he batted .377 in three collegiate seasons.
The Branch Rickey Award is presented annually by the Rotary Club of Denver.
Proceeds from the event benefit Denver Kids, Inc., a preventative counseling
and mentoring program for at-risk students in Denver Public Schools.
