COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Rusty Greer served as the honorary chairperson of the Building Campaign for the Ronald McDonald House of Ft. Worth. He also provides dinners for the families of seriously ill children during the holidays. He was a major donor for the Ronald McDonald Family Room, opened recently at Cooks Children’s Hospital in Ft. Worth. Actively involved with “Fight Hunger at the Plate,” Rusty served as honorary chairperson of the campaign that collected 278,500 pounds of food for the North Texas Food Banks. From 1999 through 2001, Rusty hosted a celebrity sporting clays shoot for the benefit of the Natural Resource Foundation of Texas. In 2000 and 2001, he was co-chairman of the Rangers/Dallas Stars “Hope for the Holidays” program. He has also been involved with the Rangers’ Rookie League, Dr. Pepper Junior Rangers and Toys for Tots programs. He also volunteers with Texas Special Olympics. In polls conducted by the Arlington Star-Telegram, Rusty was voted the most popular Ranger in 1996, 1997 and 1998. In 2002, he was the recipient of the Jim Sundberg Community Achievement Award.

BASEBALL CAREER:
Rusty Greer has a .305 career batting average, sixth highest in club history. In 2003, he was inducted into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame. Plagued by injuries, he will miss the entire 2004 season. In the past two years, he has undergone surgeries on his left elbow, left shoulder and neck. This year, he is expected to need surgeries on his right hip and right knee.
The Branch Rickey Award is presented annually by the Rotary Club of Denver.
Proceeds from the event benefit Denver Kids, Inc., a preventative counseling
and mentoring program for at-risk students in Denver Public Schools.
