Randy
Wolf has served as spokesman for the Children’s
Miracle Network for the past two seasons. He purchases
$6,000 in tickets each year for CMN kids and their families.
He visits with the children on the field during batting
practice. This year marks the fourth annual Glanville/Lieberthal/Wolf
Celebrity Billiards tournament. Proceeds from the event
benefit the Philadelphia Futures mentoring program for
inner-city high school students. In May, the three players
teamed to donate $25,000 to the Futures program. Overall,
the 2004 Tournament raised close to $100,000. Each year,
Randy visits several hospitals to raise the spirits of
sick children in both Philadelphia and Clearwater, FL,
site of the Phillies spring training. He attends numerous
charity functions each year, to the delight of the fans
who get to meet him. Randy also takes part in “Baseballers
Against Drugs,” free baseball clinics for inner-city
youth.
Randy
Wolf was named to the 2003 NL All-Star team. His 16-10
record last year tied for fifth in the league. He was
seventh in strikeouts per nine innings pitched with 8.0
and eleventh in opponents average at .233. Randy led NL
lefthanders in wins, strikeouts (177), opposing average
and innings pitched.
In 1995, he pitched for Team USA. In 1997, he was named
a second team
All American by Baseball America. As a junior in high
school, Randy pitched a no-hitter and a perfect game in
consecutive starts.
