Jeff
Conine is a member of the board of trustees of Joe DiMaggio
Children’s Hospital. He and his wife Cindy founded
the Conine All-Star Classic, a celebrity golf tournament
that raises money for the hospital. Over the past 10 years,
the tournament has raised more than $1,500,000. In November
2003, the hospital honored Jeff and Cindy by dedicating
“Conine’s Clubhouse,” a 24-hour facility
to accommodate families who have children admitted for
treatment. Jeff also serves on the Advisory Board of the
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida. He participated
in their 2004 Sports Banquet, which raised more than $285,000
to help make wishes come true. In 2003, he was the Grand
Marshall of the Make-A-Wish “Miracle on 136th Street”
Holiday Parade. He will actively participate in making
two dreams come true this season. Two “Wish”
children have the dream of being a member of the Florida
Marlins for a day. They will have the opportunity to hang
out in the dugout during batting practice, meet the players
in the Clubhouse and throw out the first pitch prior to
the game. Jeff is also involved in planning and developing
of a new YMCA in Weston, Florida. He has contributed both
time and funds to the project.
In
1,542 career games, Jeff Conine has 1,571 hits. He was
a member of the 1994 and 1995 NL All-Star teams. Besides
being a star outfielder, he is a
world-class racquetball player. Jeff won the 1985 Junior
National Championship and has competed in several pro
tournaments.
