COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Shawn Green is a key figure in the Dodgers’ Dream Foundation. He contributes $250,000 a year to the Foundation for each year of his contract, which will total $1,500,000 over six years. His donations have assisted in refurbishing six youth baseball fields, purchasing thousands of books for local elementary school children and buying toys for kids at local hospitals. Through his leadership, the City of Los Angeles has increased funding to aid in rehabilitating youth baseball and softball fields. Shawn and his wife Lindsay support many charitable organizations, such as Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles where they donated $25,000 in video games for patients. He is also active in community programs for the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles, including Jewish Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Jewish Reading Program. His commitment to community service has been recognized during the Muscular Dystrophy Association Muscle Team dinner and Cedars-Sinai Hospital’s Sports Spectacular banquet. He also received the 2000 Baseball Assistance Team’s A. Barlett Giamatti Award for community service. Considered a hero in his hometown of Tustin, Shawn supports youth baseball, Children’s Hospital of Orange County and Orangewood Children’s Home.

BASEBALL CAREER:
Shawn Green was a first team selection on the 1991 USA Today All-USA HS team. In 2003, he tied for second in the NL with 49 doubles. He holds the Dodgers all-time single season record for doubles. In 2001, he hit a franchise record 49 homers. He was named to the AL All-Star team in 1999 and the NL team in 2002.
The Branch Rickey Award is presented annually by the Rotary Club of Denver.
Proceeds from the event benefit Denver Kids, Inc., a preventative counseling
and mentoring program for at-risk students in Denver Public Schools.
