Tim
and his wife Marci established the Tim Salmon Foundation
which donates $100 per RBI each year to benefit Family
Solutions and Laurel House. He also provides 100 tickets
in his “Fish Bowl” section of Edison Field
to all Angels games for youth and charity groups. He hosts
the Tim Salmon Charity Golf Tournament which benefits
Family Solutions and Laurel House. In 2003, Tim donated
funds to refurbish Delco Field for the West Anaheim Little
League. In 2002, he served as Honorary Chairperson, along
with Marci, of the “Kids Helping Kids” program
for Boy & Girl Scouts of America. Tim is active in
the State of California’s “Responsible Fatherhood”
campaign. He served as the Angels’ representative
to the California Department of Health Mentoring program.
The CAP Cure Charity, which supports finding a cure for
prostate cancer, also receives his involvement. In 1999,
he took part in Rod Carew’s “Friends of Kiley”
benefit that raised $30,000 for an Anaheim policeman’s
sick child. Tim was the winner of the 2002 Hutch Award,
given each year to the Major League player who displays
“honor, courage and dedication to baseball while
overcoming adversity in their personal or professional
lives.”
Last
year was Tim Salmon’s 12th season with the Angels.
In 1,554 career games, he has 1,583 hits. Tim leads the
Angels in home runs with 288. He was named the Angels
2002 and 1998 Roberto Clemente True Value “Man of
the Year.” Tim was the 1993 Rookie of the Year,
the only Angel to claim the award.
